Carols in the Domain 2003

Once again Light Design Australia was part of the spectacular Carols in the Domain as it celebrated its 21st anniversary. This year’s show was enjoyed by a live audience of over 100,000 and viewed on Channel 7 by millions of television viewers. As usual there was a star-studded line up of Australian performers from theatre, opera, television, Australian Idol, and the music industry, as well as the traditional Disney Channel extravaganza, and of course, the star of the show, Santa Claus.

This Year the dazzling Disney Channel segment featured a laser, light and pyrotechnic spectacular to the themes of the Lion King and Aladdin, and to the memerable songs of You'll Be In My Heart, A Whole New World, He Lives In You and Circle of Life.

The Disney segment was jam-packed with laser images of the characters telling the stories of the songs and movies, featuring Simba, Nala and friends as well as Aladin and Princess Jasmine taking a magic carpet ride around the world.

The two 40W YAG Lasers were positioned either side of the stage and projected beams, sheets and waves out over the audience and the 10W Argon located on the Main Front of House Tower projected graphic images onto the canopy covering the stage.

For the first time at the Carols in the Domain, Light Design Australia used a special mirror ball effect, by placing 2 large mirror balls on either side of the stage on high rigging and bouncing 2 Yag laser beems from either side of the stage to two mirrors on the Main Front of House Tower 50 meters away, then ricocheting the beams back to large mirror balls and creating sparkles on stage area and canopy.

Light Design Australia entertained the audience with animations and dazzling beams throughout 8 segments including The Wiggles, Eran, Troy Cassar-Daley and the fantastic finale.

The Light Design Australia team says thanks to Michael McKay, Channel 7, Disney Channel, the producers of the event ActiveTV, and all the sponsors for making this a truly remarkable event.
